Your car battery should last about 4 years, but eventually needs to be replaced. If you are continually jump starting your car or your battery isn't holding the charge, you can test the voltage of your car battery in a few simple steps.

Use a voltmeter, and make sure you wear rubber gloves and goggles to protect yourself from battery acid. Turn off your ignition and lights. Connect the red battery terminal to the red voltmeter first, then connect the black, or negative terminal. If your battery measures below 12 volts, it needs to be replaced. Take off the black terminal first when detaching the voltmeter.

When you need a new battery, head over to our service center at Jaguar Richmond and we will make sure your car is ready for the road with a new battery installed. Don't get stuck with a dead battery by testing the voltage of your battery today.
